transit

Transit service to the Lloyd District and other parts of Portland’s Central City is continually improving. In September 2009, TriMet will open the MAX Green Line between PSU and Clackamas Town Center, and both Green and Yellow Line trains will operate on the Downtown Transit Mall along 5th and 6th Avenues. This represents a significant increase in access to and from Southeast Portland and Clackamas. With the opening of the Green Line, Lloyd District commuters will notice shorter headways (trains arriving and departing with increased frequency), particularly during the peak-hour commute.

The future of transit in the Lloyd District includes the extension of the Portland Streetcar to the east side of the river. Entering Lloyd from Northwest Portland via the Broadway Bridge, the streetcar will travel on NE Broadway/Weidler Streets, NE 7th Avenue, NE Oregon Street, and NE Martin Luther King Boulevard/Grand Avenue. It will continue on MLK and Grand through the Central Eastside to the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, and eventually cross the river again via a new bridge, completing the Central City Streetcar Loop.

Transit Tracker

Want to know exactly when the bus is going to pull up? Use TriMet’s Transit Tracker either online or by phone at 503-238-RIDE (7433). Enter your Stop ID number to find out how soon your bus or train will arrive. Now you won't have rush to your stop just to watch the bus leave; you can grab that cup of coffee or newspaper and know that you'll be at your stop in plenty of time.

Route Planning

Getting from point A to point B is easy with TriMet’s Trip Planner. Enter your starting location, destination, estimated time of departure or when you’d like to arrive and follow their directions to travel the quickest way! You can even change the parameters based on how far you’re willing to walk and whether you want to avoid multiple transfers. It’s a pretty slick tool for getting around the Portland Metro region.

Fare Converter

Transferring between C-TRAN and TriMet has always been tricky and the two service providers have only made it more confusing in the past couple of years. Thankfully TriMet has put together a table showing how its fares can be used on C-TRAN, and vice versa.  http://trimet.org/fares/transfers.htm

Purchasing Passes/Tickets

All types of TriMet tickets and monthly passes and some types of C-TRAN fares can be purchased at the TMA’s Commuter Connection transportation store – call for more information. In the Lloyd District, TriMet fares are also available at Safeway (1100 NE Broadway), Mail and More (950 Lloyd Center), and all MAX platforms.

Lloyd District Transit Board

The Transit Board is a service of Portland Transport that displays all transit options arrival times (bus routes and MAX lines) to all points throughout Portland using the Lloyd District as a “bookmarked” trip origin.

Simply click on your destination area of the map and a pop-up window will appear with a list of all transit options to access that part of the city. This is a great tool to use for getting to meetings or when you are ready to head home. Find out exactly when your bus or train will be arriving (in real time) without having to wait out in the wet and cold.
